Newsletter: It’s a new year! Time for CHANGE!

Hello,

It’s that time of year again! This is when we gather our inspiration, think about crushing goals in the new year, and run off to the gym in droves carrying green juices. Oh, the excitement!

Cynics will laugh and check in by February expecting to see that we failed. But I’m a real believer that change can happen, under one condition, which Einstein said best:

As I’m thinking through how to do things differently this year, businesses are intensely implementing new plans for the year as well. And that’s not just because it’s the new year, but for them, change is just the new normal.

Ch-ch-ch-changes in 2019 for Learning

What does change look like in 2019? Well, the forecast indicates fairly disruptive, choppy waters! Forbes will tell you all about it in their yearly roundup: Top 10 Digital Transformation Trends. In at #5 is “Data to Analytics to Machine Learning to AI” which is disrupting pretty much everything.

What that means for learning and development is that the usual yearly planning has the added joy of making your workforce “future ready.” Oooohh, there’s a buzz word people are loving these days. Other iterations include future proof. And if your company is still struggling with this, 2019 is the time to get on board. No more delaying!

The bots are coming! But they’re not taking jobs, they’re improving performance.

Wouldn’t it be nice if bots could sweep in and fill all your open positions? Well, they are already helping at some companies. Check out how that’s expanding in 2019 and read about how start-ups like HireVue (pic below) have bots doing initial screening interviews in this CNBC article.

This is the reality of AI in the workplace today: bots aren’t taking jobs, they’re making us more efficient. If that isn’t a happy, anxiety-reducing realization for some folks, I don’t know what is.

This explains another important trend from PWC in their report, “2019 AI Predictions”: teaching AI citizens and specialists to work together. 60% of the 1000+ executives polled stated that their number one priority is implementing continual learning initiatives that include AI.

Continual learning? How can you get employees to learn all the time?

Getting your employees to learn all the time is achievable for a number of reasons and these are two of our favorites:

  1. Millennials are about to be 35% of the workforce and learning is super important to them -- 93% want lifelong learning and would spend their own time and resources on training. (HRExchange).

  2. There are new tech solutions that make learning incredibly engaging, scalable and accessible across geographic regions and devices like never before.

So, millennials want to learn all the time and executives need a workforce able to continuously learn and embrace change. This sounds like the perfect time for L&D to make all of this happen with the advanced learning tools available today.

We’ve seen it happen for our clients like Stanley Black & Decker who globally trained a salesforce with one trainer in just a few months. We also helped Havas Media retain their learning hungry younger workforce by digitizing a corporate academy.

But don’t take our word for it, (humble brag alert!) eLearning Industry put us in their list of The 20 Best Learning Management Systems (2018 Update) at lucky #7.

To help you prepare a superstar workforce for AI, we even have an upcoming webinar you can attend:
